Mark Making Project

As the artist of this piece my main objective was to recreate the photo of the woman by using different types of paint brushes and mark making tools to achieve a new type of art. For this project I primarily used the text tool, selection tool and the define brush preset tool under the edit tab to create the word brushes. I first chose a photo from online that was clear and high quality and placed this photo into photoshop and change the image size to a resolution of 300. For the brushes i used the words strength, power, glam, and beauty all in different fonts. To use the paint brushes on the actual photo itself I first posterized the photo and defined 6 key values. Then I would select a small selection of each shade and used the paint brushes i created on a new layer and filled in the selection. I then repeated this step for the next 5 values. To add color I then added a gradient to the image and chose the overlay setting. A challenge I faced during this project was finding a proper way to lay the paintbrushes where the paintbrushes still resemble words. Involving different shades and paintbrush size was key in this process as well.
